What's a Dermascan?
The Dermascan is a simple box that uses ultraviolet (UV) light to show sun damage that is invisible to the naked eye. By looking into the Dermascan, you can see sun damage that has already happened to your face.

Project Day Camp 2004
In 2004, Kate's Foundation significantly extended it's Project Day Camp program, reaching over 4000 campers and camp staff members!

U.S. Servicemen in Iraq
August 2004
Kate's Foundation, via First Interstate Financial's care package program, sent 500 tubes of SPF-30 sunscreen to members of the US Army serving in Iraq.

We distributed 50 SPF-30 sunscreen tubes, brochures, and melanoma self-screening bookmarks to attendees. We also gave a presentation and ran the DermaScan.

At Kate's Foundation's annual fundraising bash, we distributed over 500 SPF-30 sunscreen lotion bottles, 500 educational brochures, and over 500 self-screening tip sheets to attendees. We also had the Dermascan available for facial screenings of attendees.

Asbury Park Press - Half Page Advertisements
May 2004
A dual purpose advertisement placed by Kate's Foundation in this NJ Newspaper, melanoma facts and prevention tips were thrust upon the Asbury Park Press' 170,000 daily readers.

Fancy Magazine Fashion Show and Cocktail Party
Brooklyn, NY - May 8, 2004
Distributed 100 brochures and self-screening bookmarks to magazine attendees. Also provided additional sunscreen bottles and brochures to the publishers for ongoing promotion.

The Kate Verdon Spisak Educational Scholarship

Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School
Rumson, NJ - June 2004
An annual scholarship given to a Rumson-Fair Haven High School senior who demonstates initiative and ambition in promoting melanoma awareness, the 2003 scholarship attracted many applicants. This year's scholarship recipient was Katelyn McCarthy. In addition to awarding the scholarship, a primer on melanoma facts and prevention was delivered to an audience of 500 students, their families, and faculty members.
